PBS Visionaries
Each year, the Support Center for Child Advocates (Child Advocates) provides free legal and social services advocacy for more than 1,000 children and youth who have suffered from abuse and neglect.
Child Advocates will be featured on an episode of the PBS Visionaries documentary series, the award-winning public television show hosted by veteran actor Sam Waterston. The Visionaries documentary will focus on Child Advocates' unique model of pairing a Volunteer Attorney with a staff social worker to work as a team representing each child in court and securing services to help them recover from trauma.
This documentary is an opportunity for Child Advocates to raise awareness on a national platform of the critical issue of child abuse, as well as the needs of children who have lived in foster care. This 30-minute documentary, one of just ten in the 2020 series, will be aired on PBS stations around the country.
